Research Study (Fall 2024)
A Design-Based Mixed Method Study Focusing on Female Leadership Development through Strengths-Based Training.
What does the research say?
Throughout history, women have encountered barriers to equal access for leadership positions in intercollegiate athletics. The underrepresentation of women in male-dominated fields is a societal problem due to the dominance of masculine gender roles. Gender stereotypes significantly contribute to the lack of female leaders within intercollegiate athletics. The feminine characteristics of women do not align with the male-dominant traits society perceives to be consistent with a good leader.
